The Tragedy of Utilitas & Venustas is a self-referential album. It focuses on the idea of the decay of popular music, format, and ideas/information/memory itself (note the degrading Compact Disc and fall of physical goods since the beginning of 2000). This album is about the attempt of appealing to popular ideas and discarding them simultaneously. And in time, all things fade...
Within the sonic environments themselves of each song, this album explores a cinematic approach, almost being a soundtrack for a film that never existed. The resulting feel reveals the variance of electronic music and the inspiration of numerous and vibrant sources.
